Stinky boots? Here comes help!

Stinky boots? Here comes help!

We've all been there: smelly boots. No matter what you do. ... And it gets really nasty when the problem expands and at some point your whole bag smells bad.

Is there a solution?

Yes, there is one. You just have to follow some important points.

Get to the root of the problem

The bad smell is caused by bacteria that multiply in the humid climate of the boots and decompose organic material (sweat, grass, mud,...). Where there are fewer bacteria and less food for the bacteria, i.e. where the living conditions for bacteria are generally poor, bad smells develop more slowly. Therefore the most important thing is: dryness! Get rid of all moisture!

Your feet and socks

... should be clean and dry. Your shoes love fresh feet and clean socks. Unfortunately, if you step from a smelly shoe straight into a new, nice-smelling one, the bad smell will transfer.

Getting them some fresh air doesn't help!

Your shoes need to dry quickly! So always unpack, open as wide as possible and get somewhere warm and dry. Your boots are also welcome to go on the radiator (as long as they smell good, that's really okay). Just leaving them outside the house may seem an obvious solution, but the air cools down at night, the shoes get damp and bacteria can develop.

Fine, but what to do on days with school sports, away trips and training sessions after which I still have plans?

If you don't have the opportunity to dry and air the shoes immediately – and you probably have other sweaty stuff with you – it's best to pack everything in a functional bag that ensures a dry climate inside. Of course, you should still unpack and dry your things as soon as you get home!

The perfect match

At SOQA we rely on that sustainable combination from Sweden: SmellWell Active + Freshener Bag. (Bundle on special offer!)

The freshest bag

We love the Smell Well Freshener Bag, because it works in multiple ways: A membrane with microporous activated moso bamboo charcoal and minerals deodorizes, absorbs moisture and thus prevents the growth of bacteria. The sporty, clean scent adds to fresh feel.

Even more fresh

You'll get the full effect by also using moisture-absorbing, odor-neutralizing packsJust put them in your shoes, they work the same way as the bag – non-toxic, climate-neutral and made from sustainable and recycled materials.

Fun Fact

The Swedish company SmellWell was founded by a soccer dad who was struggling with his daughter's smelly cleats...

Keep in Mind

Less moisture, less bacteria, less smell.
